Sitemap

From Showit Wiki

A Sitemap is a list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users and is a great SEO strategy to help let search engines know about the content and pages that are in your website.

Showit automatically creates a sitemap of all your pages within your site. You can choose to exclude a page from the sitemap by unchecking the Include in Sitemap option for a page.

This is useful for client pages or pages that you don't want to be visible in search results such as Page links that are only given to a client or Password protected pages. This sitemap is uploaded when you Publish the HTML of your site. If you Export and Upload HTML, you will need to make sure you upload this sitemap which is included as sitemap.xml in the site_html folder that you export. Be sure to upload this along with the HTML at the root of your domain name.

Google recommends you submit a sitemap periodically so that they know about all the pages on your site to crawl. Make sure that you have your Site Settings SEO settings correct when submitting a sitemap so the correct content is indexed. When you Publish with HTML and use Showit as a Direct Host, we provide a Notify Google button to submit the sitemap to Google.

Clicking this button will send Google a message requesting that your sitemap be loaded and crawled.
