Export A Style Group

From Showit Manual

A Style Group can be exported to a Showit Style Group (*.ssg) file and then imported into another site or +Site with another user account or the same account. The purpose of the export and import process is to encapsulate a design for a site to be reused on another.

Important Note

The export/import process was not designed to export an entire site with site content from one account to another. Every file that gets exported with the style group and then imported into another site is not visible in the Media Library that imports the style. Even though this process will export all the images in a gallery, it is not recommended to have full image galleries when you are exporting as this will slow down the process, create large exports, create imports that no longer have the media visible in the Media Library, and many times fail because of complications with the setup of the files.

Troubleshooting Export

A style group export will fail if there are any files used by the Style Group that are not found while it is trying to export. If you run into issues exporting a style group, here are a few things to note:

  • If a file is missing even after sync, you can try adding that file to the media library and choosing to overwrite if it asks.
  • If you import a style group, and then try to export a style group based on the imported one, you can run into issues that can cause the export to fail. This is especially true if you are working on multiple computers. You can try to import the original style group again and choose overwrite which will unpack the first style group onto the current computer. This is a common problem because the files for a style group that were imported are not downloaded when you run a media library sync.
