Configure Subdomain

From Showit Wiki

If you've found yourself here, it most likely means you have added a Showit +Site but it does not publish successfully. In order for a Showit +Site to publish to Subdomains your domain's DNS settings must be configured with a Wildcard DNS record.

We STRONGLY recommend you allow Showit to complete this for you. However, if you prefer to make the necessary changes yourself we have included instructions on what DNS changes to make.

Showit Configures Your Subdomain

Follow these steps to request Showit to configure your Wildcard DNS:

  • Step 1: If you are creating a new +Site click on the Configure +Site Settings button. If you have already created your +Site click on Site and Domain Setup... from the Showit toolbar menu.
  • Step 2: In the +Site Setup window select I want Showit to configure my domain
  • Step 3: Select your Registrar from the drop down list and enter your Username and Password
  • That's all! Showit Support will do the rest.

DIY DNS Changes

If you would prefer to make the DNS changes DIY style, follow the steps below:

  • Log in to your domain registrar (i.e. GoDaddy, Register.com, eNom)
  • In the DNS settings there should be an Advanced Setttings area. That is the place you need to get to.
  • Select the A Records to edit
  • Add a "*" in the next open field on the left and point it to the IP address 75.101.143.93.
  • Save your settings

If you are comfortable with editing your DNS settings that's all! If you find you are having problems please request Showit to edit your DNS setting using the steps outlined in "Showit Configures Your Subdomain".
